What Does Krambua Mean?
Krambua comes from old Norwegian coastal culture. A "krambu" was a small local shop or trading place, often connected to fishing villages and harbour life.
It was where people could buy what they needed, meet others, exchange news, and feel part of the community. The word "bua" comes from "bu" – a small house, booth, or storage place.
So Krambua means: "the little house by the harbour where things happen."
Why We Chose This Name?
We didn't want to call it a "Seafood Restaurant" or "Maritime Kitchen" or something generic. We wanted a name that said what this place actually is: a warm, honest gathering space rooted in Lofoten's fishing culture.

In 2024, we started Maritime Munchies as a food truck. We cooked good fish. We were friendly.
We didn't pretend to be something we weren't. People loved it. Local fishermen came. Visitors came. Families came.
It became a real part of this place. Krambua is the next step. Same values. Same food quality. Same warmth.
Now in a proper restaurant where you can sit down, order a drink, and spend an evening. But it's still Krambua, still that little house by the harbour where people gather.
Still connected to the fishermen who supply us. Still honest. Still local. Still no pretense.
